The Curious Reader

At The Curious Reader, I managed a team of 4 cross-functional employees, edited, wrote, designed and developed the website, and pitched in on graphic design.

In 2017, I co-founded The Curious Reader, a niche online literary magazine with a focus on Indian literature. Over the course of three years, we grew it to over 40,000 visitors per month.

Content Management and Editing

As the editor, and later, the managing editor of The Curious Reader, I managed the editorial calendar, commissioned pitches, worked with a pool of over 100 freelance writers and edited the articles and listicles featured on the website.

Operations

I was responsible for managing a team consisting of an editor, a writer, a graphic designer and a social media manager. I hired the team, onboarded and mentored them and ensured that our company culture enabled and empowered each of them.

Writing

I frequently wrote both long-form articles and listicles for The Curious Reader.

Website Design and Development

Using Extra, a WordPress theme that uses the Divi Builder, I designed and developed the website. Our focus was on providing readers with a clean, user-friendly experience that minimises distraction. Over the course of 3 years, the website went through 2 re-designs and one re-branding.
